Vic's story

Hello! I’m Vix and I’m 34. I have 2 kids, a 5 and a 4 yr old and I’ve been married 7yrs. I work 2 days a week as a dental nurse and run my own business on the side doing wedding stationery and gifts.

I started doing pole in May 2021; I had gained a stone after the 75 lockdowns we had and decided that strength and toning up was something I wanted to focus on. I’d also started to feel a little self conscious about my body so wanted to try something a little out my comfort zone and friends had recommended this was brill for body confidence.

I started with one class a week and then quickly became addicted. I now do 2 pole classes and 1 stretch class a week. I also try and do the odd private class with Becki when I can.

Pole is hard when you first start but because there is a goal of getting a move it becomes almost like a challenge and you push yourself like you never have before.

I’m very stubborn and if I don’t get something I will go and go until I do get it. It doesn’t matter if you have zero strength when you first start, I had noodles for arms at first and now I can beat my hubby in an arm wrestle! At first I was a bit self conscious about wearing the tiny shorts but everyone is so lovely in the classes and wearing the same thing that you stop caring really quick. And when you get that move and get an applause you feel like superwoman haha

Speaking of superwoman/man- I would say that was my most hated move at the moment. But only because I can’t master it. It took me ages to get a Scorpio but now I have it I’m forever flipping myself into it. Superman is my new nemesis and I WILL get it.
